Artist’s statement:
My piece is about the pressure and isolation, that African Americans often feel as we navigate our way through a hostile society where the rules are not in our favor.

Traditionally, men are discouraged from showing emotion or talking about their feelings. Especially for Black & Latino Men, there is a huge stigma in looking for mental health help.

In 2016, artist Kid Cudi talked about his depression in a Facebook post. This launched a twitter #YouGoodMan where African American men were encouraged to talk to each other.
