According to the Greek historian, Herodotus, the myth of the Phoenix comes from Egyptian tradition. The phoenix was a bird associated with the cult of the sun and related to the flooding of the Nile. The Phoenix would rise from the ashes of their predecessor. It was a symbol for creation and life.
